The first part of the “Training for youths for monitoring and advocacy through utilization of spatial data in two parts” was conducted successfully
The first part of the “Training for youths for monitoring and advocacy through utilization of spatial data in two parts” was conducted in the period 28-30 of April, 2014 in the Conference hall of Slavyanska beseda hotel.

The event gathered together 20 enthusiastic young people (12 women and 8 men) and four lecturers who gave presentation during the three days of the training. The participants were chosen on the basis of several criteria: to be students or youths until the age of 29 years; to show interest in the themes of the active civic position and environmental and biodiversity protection and sustainable development; to motivate their desire for participation and to have to possibility to participate in the second part of the training. The diverse group represented various parts of the country and included people living or studying in Ruse, Shumen, Bourgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Samokov and Sofia.

Training for youths for monitoring and advocacy through utilization of spatial data is going to start The first part of the ”Training for youths for monitoring and advocacy through utilization of spatial data in two parts” will be held in the period of 28-30 April, 2014 in the conference hall of hotel Slavjanska beseda at Slavyanska street 3, Sofia. Twenty one participants will have the chance to get acquainted with basic notions in relation to nature protection: threads for the biodiversity, environmental protection acts and regulations, good practices from Norway etc. The participants will learn more about the functions and the responsibilities of the various institutions related to nature protection as well as how to apply influence on them. Key nature protection cases for which the active civic position is of great importance will be also presented during the training.

The recruitment of participants for the “Training for youths for monitoring and advocacy through utilization of spatial data”  part of the GIS project has started A presentation of the GIS project, funded by the NGO Program in Bulgaria under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014  http://www.ngogrants.bg/  was held on 02.04.2014 during the traditional biodiversity lectures of the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, conducted in the Biology faculty of the Sofia university „St. Kliment Ohridski“
 
The main project goals, priorities and project activities were presented to the audience.
 
Information for the first planned project training namely “Training for youths for monitoring and advocacy through utilization of spatial data in two parts” as well as the dates for the first part of the training were presented to the audience.
 
The first part of the training will be conducted in the period of 28-30 of April in Sofia.

Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation and the Norwegian Environmental Agencyare partners in anew project, which is going to be in favour of the civic society and the nature protection in Bulgaria In February 2014, the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF)has started a new project, bearing the long title“Building Capacity of Non-governmental Organizations, Youths and Citizens for Use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Strengthening the Monitoring Skills and Advocacy of Policies for Regional Sustainable Development”. The project is financed under the NGO Program in Bulgaria under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014.
